How to reach to Bagnaia
Once at San Quirico take the ex Via Cassia (Strada Provinciale 137) towards Torrenieri and after about 300 meters turn left following the sign for Bagnaia. (green arrow on the map below)
A TERRITORY OF RARE BEAUTY WHERE HISTORY, NATURE, TRADITIONS AND SPIRITUALITY ARE ENTWINED
The farmhouse Bagnaia lies in the splendid territory of the Val d’Orcia just a stone’s throw from the village of San Quirico d’Orcia with its lovely gardens (the Horti Leonini), its Romanesque parish church (the Collegiata) and the chapel of the Madonna of Vitaleta, one of the most photographed symbols of Tuscany, less than 10 km from Pienza, Montalcino, Bagno Vignoni, and it takes only a few minutes by car to get to Montepulciano and to the Monte Amiata which is a 1700 mt high extincted volcan.
One of the most important “route of faith” winds across the hills and cypresses of Val d’Orcia
RIPA D'ORCIA
The Middle Ages among green woods and steep drops down to the river Orcia. A rugged square shaped castle, a view point from the top of the walls, geraniums among the cracks in the walls and a few cypress trees: it is an extinct world, absolutely one to be appreciated.
6 Km
THE ABBEY OF SANT'ANTIMO
Leaving Montalcino, a superb stronghold of Siena, now sleepy among the grey-green of olive groves, you come to Sant’Antimo, a bell tower flanked by a great cypress tree, a thousand year old abbey, solemn and austere at the bottom of a solitary valley.
25 Km
VIGNONI ALTO, ROCCA D'ORCIA, RADICOFANI, SPEDALETTO
Four castles, four forms of forticification. Dominating positions, limitless panoramas, stone houses shielded by menacing towers, some clumps of mint. Places to be enjoyed slowly and peacefully.
MONASTERY OF MONTE OLIVETO
A red brick compound, both organic and varied, set in a difficult environment characterized by erosion furrows and groups of cypress trees. Monte Oliveto reminds us of Renaissance patterns and exhibits elegant vases, lovely miniature and exquisite wooden incisions as well as the frescoes created by Sodoma and Signorelli.

A WHOLE TERRITORY TO DISCOVER AMONG ENCHANTING VILLAGES AND VINEYARDS
BAGNO VIGNONI
A handful of houses, a pool bubbling with steam, a suggestive solitary valley, intense blue ponds: this is Bagno Vignoni, an enchanting corner in southern Tuscany.
5 Km
PIENZA
The town of Pope Pius II. It is rightly considered the incarnation of the Renaissance Utopia of the ideal city. Still today it expresses the urban canons of the Renaissance for a rational organization of space and prospective of sixteenth century squares and buildings.
6 Km
MONTALCINO
The home of Brunello wine, Montalcino is a place to visit to see the impressive Fortress, various monuments and get a fantastic view over the Val d’Orcia.
14 Km
MONTEPULCIANO
This is the largest center and the richest in works of art in the southern part of the province of Siena, between the Val d’Orcia and the Val di Chiana. Montepulciano is surprising, a Gothic city par excellence, with beautifully rich Renaissance architecture.
23 Km
The Val d’Orcia Park is a World Heritage site. What makes the Val d’Orcia so unique is the common vision of the realities present – the councils of Castiglione d’Orcia, Montalcino, Pienza, Radicofani and San Quirico d’Orcia.

THIS IS THE ORIGINAL.
They are landscapes of a magical place, the Val d’Orcia. This is not only because of its location at the center of the valley, but above all for its more than one thousand years of history related to the Via Francigena
